This is an easy stroll, mainly on towpaths, looking at Holy Brook, Kennet Wharfs, The Abbey, The Prison, Blake's Lock, Brunel's bridge, The Thames, Nature Reserve, the latest Thames crossing & The Forbury Gardens. Thursday 14th February 10:30, 5 miles: A gentle walk along the Thames to a place where one of our more eccentric Scottish members used to commute to work across the river in his inflatable dinghy! Then up through the picturesque village of Medmenham, crossing the busy A4155 then gently ascending the Chiltern foothills with their magnificent views across the Hambleden valley before descending back to the car park. Flat walk from Palmer Park on the east side of Reading, along the Kennet river and the Foudry brook to the Madejski Stadium on the west side, and then back linking through Nores Hill Wood, The Cowsey and Reading University campus. Thursday 28th February 10:30, 5 miles: A walk around Lightwater Country Park, the old vehicle testing areas and High Curley Hill. Hopefully we can see as far as London and also some interesting wildlife. There are a few short, steep inclines in the testing areas. : Crowthorne and Caesar's Camp. A moderate circular walk from Crowthorne across Bramshill forest to Caesar's Camp, where there are some great views over the surrounding countryside. Thursday 28th March 10:30, 6 miles: Fleet Pond to the Basingstoke canal. Walk around the Fleet pond nature reserve and then down towards the forest of Eversley. Follow the Basingstoke canal for a short while and then return through the nature reserve. Start: SU823552 Fleet Pond Nature Reserve car park off the A3013. Turn right after crossing the railway line and travel along the track until you arrive at the main Fleet Pond Nature reserve car park (not at the Southwood Lane car park on the left after you cross the railway). Tuesday 2nd April 10:30, 13 miles: Get to know the Forest! Walk through Swinley Forest, Wishmoor Bottom, Lightwater Country Park, Surrey Hills and the Lookout. Thursday 25th April 10:30, 5½ miles: A walk around Mattingley, Hound Green, Hazeley Heath and Dipley in the quiet and unspoilt (and relative flat) north Hampshire countryside. The walk crosses the River Whitewater twice, and includes fine views of Bramshill House, ending at a 15th-century church. Half a dozen stiles.
