Brimpton, Plastow Green & Haughurst Hill. 12 miles (557647, Explorer 158) 

This walk starts at Brimpton Church.

Take the lane back to the road, turn right and shortly where it turns sharp right at pub, take road on left. Turn left onto footpath just past Brimpton Lodge. At metal gate at path crossroads, turn left and proceed down to road opposite Manor Farm Brimpton, turning right along road. Where road turns sharply right, take public bridleway on left. Stay on track to pass Stone House on left. Keep ahead down to road, turn right and shortly take footpath signposted on left opposite Manor Farm Crookham. Continue ahead through buildings bearing left on track through metal gate. Ignore all tracks off, continuing downhill to cross  bridge over River Enborne, turning immediately right along track. Turn left at footpath sign to cross field. Where track bears right, continue ahead through narrow strip of woodland.

Emerge from woods and where track bears left to farm buildings, continue ahead on footpath. On reaching road turn right and just after Goose Hill House turn left onto gravel drive signposted as a bridleway. Where driveway turns right, keep ahead on grass to follow footpath. At staggered crossroads continue ahead and at end of wire fencing bear right, waymarked on telegraph pole. On reaching road bear right past white cottage on left and turn left on to stony track ignoring all paths off. Pass through metal gate and turn immediately right on to footpath. At fork in path bear left along hedgerow to pass rear of house on right. Continue along path to meet metal gate and wooden fence. Turn left to follow hedgerow on left and fence on right. Pass through metal gate and after 20 meters turn right onto indistinct footpath through woods. On emerging from woods turn right on to track and follow field edge round to the left. Continue ahead until meeting road. Turn right and after 30 metres cross road to take footpath into woods. After waymark on left leave woods and turn immediately right onto path. On meeting track from right at edge of woods turn left and immediately right at waymark across footbridge bearing left again. Turn left to follow left-hand field edge and at bottom left-hand corner of field bear left through trees and immediately right on to broad grassy track. Continue ahead onto dirt track until arriving at a T-junction. Turn left up gravel track past buildings to reach road.  

Cross road, continue ahead on track to reach edge of woods and turn right. Where track turns sharp right, bear left into woods. Ignore all paths off main track and leave the woods over a footbridge. Follow path uphill to reach open field and at edge of woods ahead turn left on well-defined footpath. Cross stream and proceed uphill to Haughurst Hill. Continue on road through village past phone box and shortly turn left on to footpath. On reaching road continue ahead and where road bends sharp right take footpath ahead through gorse bushes to reach T-junction. Turn left down to road and right along road, and shortly at staggered crossroads cross stile on left signposted Public Footpath. Follow field edge and at waymark signs turn right to enter woods. On leaving woods follow byway signposted ahead with houses on left. Continue ahead on path and turn right by metal gate and Public Footpath sign.

 After 20 metres turn left and keep ahead on path. At end of path cross gravel track and enter field through swing-gate. Head towards the church and leave field by further swing-gate turning left onto Public Footpath. Continue ahead following drive down hill. At the road turn left and right to cross Shalford Bridge. At road junction take left fork signposted Brimpton and Newbury. Where road bends sharp left pass through wooden gate on right and turn left along footpath. At path crossroads by gravel track, turn left at metal gate. Continue ahead to road and turn right up to T-junction. Turn right and cross road to shortly reach lane on left back to Brimpton Church.
